Striped Light presents the installation and printed matter of Knoxville artist, Dan B. Hood.
Raised in the Midwest, Dan B. Hood is a recent transplant to Knoxville, Tennessee, where he is completing his BFA in Printmaking in the School of Art at the University of Tennessee. As founder of HAUS of DIVE, Dan curates the arts publication and online gallery; focusing on showcasing emerging artists from the southeast and around the country. In the Summer of 2015 he completed Barriers: A Pop-Up Art Experience where he traveled across the U.S. and Canada creating installation exhibits in various cities along the way such as: Austin, TX, Los Angeles, CA, Calgary, AB, Canada and Philadelphia, PA amongst others.
This Was Never For Us, an upcoming exhibition at Striped Light in Knoxville TN, presents playful sculptural forms inspired by the architecture of his childhood. From concrete and wooden pools to organic shapes reminiscent of flowers and mushrooms, the imagery acts as a gateway to self exploration and identity, using the ever-present materials of industrialism in our modern era.
